I am a professional metalworker, graphic artist, and community activist with a passion for people and politics. I’m campaigning for an at-large seat on the Northampton City Council and asking for your vote.

I grew up in Arlington, Massachusetts, and moved west to attend the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Art in Printmaking. I made Northampton my permanent home after college, joining the grounds crew at Look Park while pursuing artistic endeavors. I’ve worked for printmakers and bookbinders in the Arts and Industry building, as a host at Fitzwilly’s, and for the Smith College Museum of Art. Today, I am a full-time specialized architectural metals fabricator at Salmon Studios in Florence Center. My wife Martha and I have two children, who attended Northampton Public Schools from kindergarten through high school.

As a college student and young adult, I fell in love with the area’s amazing music and arts scene in the 1980s and 90s. I want to bring that vibrancy back to Northampton, while also focusing on affordable housing, education and transit improvements, to build community, foster creativity, and make the city come alive. 

In recent years, I’ve raised concerns about development on the site of the former Northampton State Hospital, questioned the siting of the proposed animal control facility, advocated for housing, supported the Picture Main Street redesign, and worked to promote the goals of the Gateway District. These have all been opportunities to learn how Northampton government functions and to develop a greater appreciation for the hard work and commitment of our elected officials, city staff, and volunteer members of committees and boards. 

I believe we all have a role to play in making Northampton the best it can be. If elected, I promise to bring that spirit to my work on the Council, working collaboratively with colleagues and community members in support of the city we all love.
